Description
You will receive the blank in the image.
this is Canadian grown Buckhorn grown on Pelee Island, the spalting is caused by fungus that attacks the once living fibres of the wood to create beautiful and natural patterns in the wood, often with different natural colours.
the process, this wood was processed at Woodslee Summercraft Studios, after the spalting has occured it us cut into pen blank size and air dried, after reaching the correct moisture reading the stabilization process takes place, submerged in cactus juice resin in a vacuum to pull out any and all air within the fibres of the wood, then resin is allowed to take place of any pourus voids in the wood fibres. Then cooked at 200 degrees for 2 hrs untill the resin is set. then sanded and sprayed with denatured alcohol to take a picture to show off the colours. These blanks are solid and great to turn wood that may otherwise be unsuitable for turning without the stabilization process.
